The starlet broke her silence, revealing the 37-year-old Green Bay Packers quarterback proposed “a while ago”.
“Yes, we are engaged,” Woodley told Fallon, adding: “But for us, it’s not new news, you know, so it’s kind of funny.
“Everyone right now is freaking out over it and we’re like, ‘Yeah, we’ve been engaged for a while.'”
The 29-year-old described her future husband as a “wonderful, incredible human being” but admitted he’s not the type of person she thought she’d end up marrying.
“I never thought I’d be engaged to someone who threw balls for a living,” she joked.
“I never thought as a little girl, ‘Yeah when I grow up I’m going to marry someone who throws balls, yeah!’ But he’s really just so go good at it.”
The Divergent actress said his NFL star status means little to her, as she’s never even been to watch a game, revealing the the couple got together during the pandemic.
“I don’t know him as the football guy,” Woodley told Fallon, who could only laugh.
“I know him as like the nerd who wants to host Jeopardy! That’s the dude I know.”
While talking about her latest project on the late-night chat show, the actress gave a glimpse of a diamond sparkler on her left hand.
Rumours the couple were dating began surfacing in February, days before Rodgers revealed he was engaged without revealing who he was set to marry.
During his acceptance speech at MVP Award at NFL Honors, Rodgers said: “2020 was definitely a crazy year, filled with lots of change, growth, some amazing memorable moments… I got engaged and I played some of the best football of my career.”
Prior to dating Woodley, Rodgers was in relationships with professional racing driver Danica Patrick and actress Olivia Munn.
While Woodley previously dated rugby player Ben Volavola in 2017.
